10/10/2023 The Irvine City Council voted 3-2 to proceed with District-based elections. Mayor Farrah Khan, Councilmember Mike Carroll, and Councilmember Larry Agran voted to place a Charter amendment on the ballot in March of 2024 to create a six member plus mayor City Council with Districts. Councilwoman Tammy Kim and Councilwoman Kathleen Treseder voted, in what is fast becoming a losing voting block, to oppose the measure.
