Irvine Spectrum Center has opened its new 132-foot Spectrum SunWheel, replacing the Giant Wheel that had been a fixture at the shopping center since 2002.
The new wheel features 27 gondolas that can seat up to six passengers each, enhanced LED lighting and music inside the gondolas. Irvine Spectrum Center says improved operations are expected to reduce peak wait times from about 90 minutes to approximately 45 minutes.
General admission is $10, with a $15 Speed Pass option. The first 300 guests on Saturday and Sunday can also receive a complimentary ride courtesy of Hoag.
