Former US Representative Katie Porter (D-Irvine) announced today that she will run for California Governor in the 2026 election.

Porter, who represented Irvine beginning in 2019 until her term recently ended, said "with Governor Newsom term-limited, this is a wide open seat and it'll be a competitive race."
