TKO – Technical Knock Out & Tammy Kim Out.
Former Mayoral Candidate and Sustainability Commissioner Ron Scolesdang has prevailing in Orange County Superior Court in his action to have Tammy Kim removed from the Special Election for District 5 occurring on April 15, 2025. Mr. Scolesdang alleged that Ms. Kim continued to live in her home in District 3 while voting in District 5 in 2024's election and then, after getting caught by an investigator, renting a room off of a Craigslist ad and re-issuing her nomination papers.
Kim maintained her innocence despite the mountain of evidence against her submitted by Scolesdang's attorney Brian Hildreth, but ultimately, after a hearing on February 6, 2025 in front of Judge Craig Griffin, decided to throw in the towel and beg for a settlement. Kim's lawyer, former Brea Mayor, Brett Murdock, stammered and threw anything at the wall he could, but Judge Griffin was clearly not buying his attempts at misdirection.
Scolesdang said, "I am pleased that the settlement of this case has upheld the integrity of our electoral process and ensured that the voters of Irvine have been vindicated. This outcome reinforces the importance of transparency and accountability in our local elections. I was honored to play a role in delivering justice and protecting the democratic rights of our community. Irvine residents deserve fair and lawful elections, and this resolution reaffirms that principle."
