Stay tuned today for coverage of the @Irvine Tent City Protest at the Orange County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Eight buses loaded in Irvine and headed to the meeting.

It's a gorgeous, cloud free and crisp morning at the Great Park. Like most everything in Irvine, this protest is well-planned-which of course cannot be said of the OC Board of Supervisors scheme to create a tent city a few hundred yards from this site. Parking officers are guiding arriving vehicles to well-ordered rows in the expansive Festival Parking Lot.

Banners mark where buses will soon board Irvine citizens to make the 10 mile drive to downtown Santa Ana. There, the city's collective voice will be heard saying yes to compassion and thoughtful, collective decision making to address Orange County's homelessness and housing crisis. But a strong and unified "No!" to the ill-conceived idea of a tent city housing hundreds of homeless individuals adjacent to the Great Park, with its family-friendly sports fields, playgrounds, carousel, new schools and neighborhoods.
