In breaking news, the California Department of Veterans Affairs published a new cost estimate for the Southern California Veterans Memorial Park site located at the "Strawberry Fields" at the Great Park in Irvine.

The total cost estimate is just over $28 million which is $50 million less than the previously studied "ARDA site." Specified funding sources for the Strawberry Field site include the Federal Government, State of California, and the developer who agreed to exchange the property with the City and transfer it to the State and provide the necessary funding. No funding sources have appeared for the shortfall on the $77 million previously studied site.

Irvine voters will vote on Tuesday whether to move forward with the Federal and State approved site or whether to cancel the land exchange and return to a status of no identified and funded site.
