At the September 24, 2024 Great Park Board Meeting, a group of concerned residents asked the Great Park Board why it is giving City/Great Park Land to a private developer without an appraisal. Mayor Farrah Khan supported the overall transaction, but agreed that the City should have an appraisal. Great Park Chairman agreed and said that protecting Irvine Taxpayers is paramount.

Director Tammy Kim said that the City of Irvine should not bother with an appraisal of City land being transferred to a private developer because she "trusts staff." Director Kathleen Treseder said that she "doesn't care" about best practices of obtaining land appraisals for land being given away from the City to FIvePoint.

The Board voted unanimously to move forward with the land exchange "subject to" obtaining value information as requested by Chairman Carroll and Director Khan.
