In a completely bizarre City Council meeting tonight, Councilmembers Treseder and Betty Martinez Franco violated the City’s Municipal Code multiple times on a vote regarding Orange County Power Authority. Next, Democrats of Greater Irvine members like Kev Abazajian, Branda Lin, and Ryan Dack advocated that Irvine move to Ranked Choice Voting.

The item was placed on the agenda by Councilmembers Treseder, Liu, and Martinez Franco who are alleged by Irvine insiders to be trying to change the system since they believe that they cannot get re-elected based on normal voting, which the City has used since incorporation. The advocates bought, printed, and wore purple t-shirts to try to flood the Irvine Council Chambers with political activists appearing to have some City mandate. Irvine City News outreach has found that most Irvine residents oppose this manipulation of the simple voting system that Irvine has utilized to become the City it is today.
