The Irvine City Council voted 4-1 to support the Veterans Cemetery at the Gypsum Canyon site putting an end to over a decade of political maneuvering around the issue. Several times in the past, the Irvine City Council had tried to build the Cemetery at locations within Irvine, but Councilman Larry Agran and his supporters had thwarted all attempts.
