Concordia University-Irvine said a trade publication for higher education listed the school as one of the fastest-growing private nonprofit universities nationally as a result of a 132% increase in students over 10 years—from about 2,300 students in 2003 to about 4,050 in 2013.

The Chronicle of Higher Education’s “2015-2016 Almanac of Higher Education” cited growth in Concordia’s master’s degrees in education, coaching and athletic administration, and its MBA programs.

Concordia said in a statement it was the only Orange County private nonprofit university singled out for its growth.

The Almanac is an annual compilation of information on U.S. higher education the Chronicle, a trade journal, sells.

The university has submitted plans to the city of Irvine to reconfigure and expand parts of its campus with more parking, and a net gain of 92,000 square feet of buildings, including dormitories and classroom space.
