More changes to the Irvine skyline are on deck with the potential addition of a 20-story office building and a 14-story hotel near the Irvine Spectrum Center.

The Planning Commission on Thursday is set to consider an Irvine Company Office Properties proposal for a second high-rise office tower on Spectrum Center Drive, a building that would mirror the company’s glass tower on that same road that is nearing completion.

The commission will during the same meeting review R.D. Olson Development’s plan for a 252-room Marriott hotel, also near the Spectrum shopping center.

A full block, covering 7.85 acres, is slated as the site for the tower proposed by the Irvine Co., bounded by Alton Parkway, Enterprise Drive, Spectrum Center Drive and Gateway.

The 430,740-square-foot office tower at 400 and 450 Spectrum Center Drive would be identical to the Spectrum Center Drive tower, which is expected to open next year.

Like the tower nearing completion, the new high-rise would have a contemporary design, with large glass windows and prominent steel window frames. Of the square footage, 382,843 square feet would be leasable space.

Plans include a detached six-level parking structure.

R.D. Olson’s proposed 14-story hotel would go up on a 4.8-acre plot at 7905 Gateway, next to another of the firm’s projects – the eight-story, 210-room Courtyard by Marriott that opened in 2014 at Alton Parkway and Irvine Center Drive.

The 252-room hotel would include 7,691 square feet of meeting space, rooftop terrance, an outdoor pool and an event lawn. Parking would be valet only.

Thursday’s meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at One Civic Center Plaza. To see the full agenda, visit cityofirvine.org.
